It would be boring if it was predictable...

After the previous night I just had to get out again, but what a difference 24 hours can make. In seemingly better conditions I had to wait until just past high before I received my first run. Quickly dealt with, and I was soon returning a schoolie of about a 1.5lb thinking here we go!

How wrong was I, and although the next bite arrived quickly it turned out to be the last of the nights action. At 18", about 2.5lb, it was one of those that looked a lot bigger than it measured. As a side note I thought I would include the BASS Society weight to length ratio for those interested. After recording members results (over 5000 from memory) they have come up with a ratio that is surprisingly accurate for bass. Please note it nose to fork rather than tip of the tail.

Nose to Fork length (inches)
17 2.1lb
18 2.5
19 2.9
20 3.4
21 3.9
22 4.5
23 5.1
24 5.8
25 6.6 - 6.5
26 7.4 - 7.2
27 8.3 - 8.1
28 9.2 - 9.0
29 10.2 - 9.9
30 11.3 - 10.9
