No treasure on this Island

I had booked some time with my brother-in-law, Rob, to join him on the island and fish for bass. I arrived on Saturday and spent four days fishing the day tides at various spots along the north coast of the island.

The company was amazing, but the fishing was tough. The wind direction wasn’t ideal, and the tides were on the wrong side of excellent, but we gave it a really good go. Our total catch was four schoolies between us and a pup for Rob. All the fish were caught on squid, and the better schoolies fell to Rob, who fished at distance.

On day two, the weather brought some of the heaviest rain I’ve fished in for years, but it rewarded us with a stunning rainbow and the unforgettable sight of Rob using his chair as a rain cap! When I got home, I found an email from a fellow bass enthusiast who had landed a decent one at our favourite spot - never mind, eh?
