Laid there like you do when you reach a certain age.

Had an itch I needed to scratch, and as I haven't been able to get out during the recent storms I found myself with a couple hours free to scratch that itch. Wind was strong, but just south westerly enough to not cause any major problems.

Arrived at the same mark as my last post, and started to make my way along the shore line in readiness to wade out a couple of yards and fish parallel to the shore line. Well that was the plan. Once again I was looking down at the amount of discarded crab shells when I tripped against a piece of iron work still poking its head above the shingle.

No half hearted stumble this one, went straight down, and just as my face was about to meet the shingle instinctively my hands came up to save the day... or my face. I laid there like you do when you reach a certain age, and checked if everything was still working. Miraculously everything was, and luckily I escaped without a scratch to my knees or hands. My rod on the other hand, upon inspection, had ring liners missing along with the rod tip.

I was gutted, and looking at my glasses the right lens was pitted from the close meeting with the shingle. I shouldn't have, but I rethreaded my rod and carried on fishing knowing that if I should hook into anything I was extremely unlikely to land it. After about 30 minutes, the braid, from the constant casting, parted which was a sign for me to leave for home.

Sat here typing, and my back is really starting to play up. Fingers crossed normal service resumes soon.
